Lunalay Hammocks began in 2010, shortly after the birth of our first child.

With a background in design and a deep love for natural fabrics, Atula Watson began exploring an age-old idea: a gently suspended cradle that could create a special, cozy space for a baby and mother during those early months.

What began as a handmade experiment quickly became something much more personal.

Our first child spent countless hours in his hammock, and when he began to outgrow it, Atula didn't want to let go of something that had become such a beloved part of his early years.

So she began to rethink the design.

Could a baby hammock become something that grows alongside a child?

That question led to the creation of Lunalay's convertible hammock design—a hammock that could transition beyond the early years into a chair swing for childhood.

For more than a decade, we hand-crafted Lunalay Hammocks and shared them with families around the world.

Today, Lunalay remains a small, family-run business based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We now work closely with local manufacturers while continuing to thoughtfully select our materials and maintain the quality and character that have always been at the heart of Lunalay.
